ART2000: EPSON Digital Print Award
EXHIBITION DETAILS:The
two categories are: (A) Non-commercial including personal and exhibited work.
(B) Commissioned and commerical work. (Name and details of client must be
included to qualify the entry).
The exhibition and award is aimed
at showcasing work by those using creative new media in photography, graphic
fine art, commercial graphics, printmaking and computer arts with selectors from
the Victoria&Albert Museum and the UK Centre for Electronic Arts. The award
and prize will be presented to the winner for each category at the preview.
The selectors will be looking for work which demonstrates creativity
and innovation in the use and presentation of new media. In addition, work which
creatively uses new digital print media to enhance digital and/or traditional
media originated work.
A selection of the best entries will be included
in the new internet DPA Museum hosted by Epson. Also, for a special CD-Rom
publication following the DIGITAL ART2000 event next year. If you would like to
be considered for both of these opportunities to promote your work include a PC
floppy-disk with images and relevant information about your entries.
ENTRY DETAILS:The initial selection process is via the
submission of up-to 3 entries(maximum) in the form of digital proof prints ie;
photocopy/inkjet, or in the form of photographs or slides and a PC floppy-disc
with your images. Including a short description about how the work was created
and what media was used. Together with a brief c.v. and £10 entry fee for
each piece of work submitted, ( For Europe, USA and everywhere else 'Foreign
Draft in Sterling' ), payable to "Art&Technology".
Please also remember to include the entry form and an A5 SAE, or
international reply coupon, for your personal feedback about the event. Due to
entries being lost/damaged in the mail in previous shows initial entries cannot
be returned so please do not send your originals. For confirmation of receipt of
your entries put a stamp or international reply coupon, on a post-card and
return with your entry form.
Entries must be returned as soon as possible
arriving no later than 29th November 1999. Entries shortlisted and invitied to
take part will be notified in writing.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY & RULES
The work must be
original, limited edition artists' prints (A1 max. size), which at some stage in
their production have involved the use of electronic media (Computers, Digital
Printers etc.). Work must also be capable of hanging from the ceiling or on a
wall. Work submitted is at your own risk and Digital Art2000, venue, or any
partner organisations or individuals involved in the event shall not be liable
for the loss or any damages howsoever arising and of whatever nature in relation
to the event. Digital Art2000 reserves the right to ammend any aspect of the
exhibition including the schedule, venue or selectors if deemed appropriate.
Prints
not collected on the specified collection/delivery days or in the case of
international entries without adequate arrangements made for their return will
become the property of Digital Art2000 to deal with as it sees fit.Work
submitted without the entry fee for each entry will be excluded from the
shortlisting process and returned only if adequate postage is provided.
The
exhibition venue reserves the right to exclude or withdraw any work before or
during the exhibition if deemed appropriate. Any decision made by Digital
Art2000, partners or venue is final and not subject to appeal and no
correspondence will be entered into. Any artists' conduct that Digital Art2000
deems inappropriate and of detriment to any other individuals, to the event as a
whole or the good will of those supporting the event and who have not upheld
the conditions of entry as stated, shall effect immediate disqualification from
the event and all work will be withdrawn and removed from the exhibition.
DIGITAL ART2000 and the exhibition venue shall not be liable for any claim
relating to loss or damage to any person caused by you in the carrying out of
this exhibition, or any claim for breach of copyright in relation to the use,
publishing, display or otherwise, of the prints entered by you.
You are
responsible for any claim in respect to any damage caused by yourself to any
land, building or chattel through the acquisition of prints or any other action
in connection with this exhibition, whether such damage be caused by negligence
or in any other way whatsoever.
You shall be responsible for any claim in
respect of any personal injury, illness or disease caused to any person in
carrying out the terms of this event (whether such injury caused by negligence
or in any other way whatsoever).
Digital Art2000 sponsors make the event
available to you in many ways including providing a prize and keeping the entry
fee low. If you wish to seek sponsors for your own activities the sponsors of
Digital Art2000 are not at liberty to support any other initiatives by
individual artists' or groups and you are advised to seek other and more
appropriate sources of funding for your own projects and exhibitions. However,
we are interested in seeing artists' shows and ideas for projects and if you are
planning an exhibition we would like hear from you.
If required exhibitors
agree to be available for publicity photographs and promotional activities
including the use of images of the work for the promotion of the event.
The venue and designers reserve the right to exclude any work shortlisted
which is considered not suitable or appropriate at the time of hanging. The
selectors decision is final and is not subject to appeal and no correspondence
may be entered into either before or after selection. These rules are applicable
to all previous and current entries for the DIGITAL ART: DPA exhibitions and the
completed entry form represents the entries consent to the above rules and
regulations.
